HISTORY 1969 - 2004 In 1969, Reverend Henry Klug became the 15th resident pastor to serve St. Matthew Church. Originally St. Matthew Church was part of a four point parish with congregations all named after the four evangelists. In the 1970's St. Mark Lutheran Church closed after a fire destroyed the building. In the 1980's, St. John Lutheran Church of Shennington closed and the building was sold. Although no longer used as a church, the building still stands today. Pastor Klug served St Matthew Church nearly forty years. In this time, he faithfully proclaimed the truth of God's Word. His ministry came to a close on Reformation Day, October 31, 2004 as he entered retirement. Over 150 people attended this service and gave thanks to God for a dedicated pastor and a shepherd who served his people. Pastor Klug and his wife currently live in Tomah.
