- Definition of a
Prayer Chain
-
-
A
group of people who agree to pray for people with prayer needs. When
someone in the chain is contacted, they then contact the next person on
the list who contacts the next person and so on until everyone is
informed and can pray about the issue.
How a Prayer Chain works
EXAMPLE:
From 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. the
following will be on the Prayer Chain:
Pastor Phillip and Katherine
Enderle 378-3234
Jane Smith 372-XYXY
From 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. the
following will be on the Prayer Chain:
Pastor Phillip and Katherine
Enderle 378-3234
John Doe 372-XXXX
What happens - someone needs a
prayer...anyone...(it does not have to be from our own church), but it
usually starts at our church family by someone calling the pastor...
If it's before 7
p.m., Pastor or Mrs. Enderle will call Jane Smith because Jane is on the
day time Prayer Chain.
If it's after 7
p.m., Pastor or Mrs. Enderle will call John Doe because John is on the night time
Prayer Chain.
John would call the next person on his list. If they are not home, John
would leave them a message regarding the prayer concern and then John
will keep going down the list until he gets a hold of someone. John's
job is not done until he gets a hold of someone to pass it to. Everyone
on the list (night or day depending on the time) will say a prayer for
that person.

BLUE MOON
A
blue moon is a full moon that is not timed to the regular monthly
pattern. Most years have twelve full moons which occur approximately
monthly, but in addition to those twelve full lunar cycles, each calendar
year contains an excess of roughly eleven days. The extra days accumulate,
so that every two or three years (on average about every 2.7154 years) there
is an extra full moon. The extra moon is called a "blue moon."
The next blue moon will occur on Thursday,
December 31, 2009.
For more "blue moon" information, go to

SILENT NIGHT
1818 - The first performance of
"Silent Night" takes place in the Church of St. Nikolaus in Oberndorf,
Austria.
THE CHRISTMAS TRUCE
1914 - World War I: Just after
midnight on Christmas morning, German and British troops on the Western
Front cease firing their guns and artillery and sing Christmas carols.
Crossing the No man's land, they trade gifts with the enemy forces that face
them. They also played a game of football with a makeshift ball (fashioned
by the Germans) This truce lasts for several days, depending on the
location.
