About Our Pastor

St. Matthew is pleased to have Rev. Kory Janneke as our pastor. Pastor Kory accepted the call from St. Matthew Lutheran Church in March of 2019. He and his family relocated to Warrens from Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Pastor Kory Janneke grew up in Illinois, the son of an LCMS pastor. It was during high school he felt the Lord redirect his career path from becoming a pilot to studying for the ministry. Pastor Kory graduated in 2008 from Concordia University in Mequon, WI and in 2012 from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis. Initially serving his vicarage at Faith Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls, SD, in 2012 he was called to return and serve as Associate Pastor.

During college Pastor Kory met his future wife Heidi, they married on May 26, 2007 in Little Rock, Arkansas. Together they have 4 wonderful children. As a family, they enjoy traveling, being outdoors, going to lakes, State Parks, reading, watching movies, playing board games, and following the St. Louis Cardinals. Pastor Kory enjoys road biking and is hopeful at the prospect of getting back into hunting.

Pastor Kory has served as President of the CUW Campus Ministry Leadership Team, “co-president” of the Concordia Seminary class of 2012, District Stewardship Coordinator for the South Dakota District, Chaplain and member of the Board of Directors for Shepherd’s Canyon Retreat Ministry. He is currently serving as Chairman of the Shepherd’s Canyon Board of Directors.
